Whole of Life Event

An invitation to people who use adult and children’s social care services, their carers and families

The Whole of Life programme is developing a new model of service from pre-birth to adulthood, ensuring that children, young people and adults with special educational needs, disabilities and learning disabilities have the best start in life and achieve their very best potential, independence and employment.

We want to work with the wider community in co-production and co-design and seek your ideas and suggestions in developing this new approach.

The Changing Our Lives ‘Whole of Life Standards’, launched 11 November last year form the basis of the Whole Life ‘offer’. The standards have been co-produced and written by people with disabilities of all ages; they cover: • My Voice • Staying Safe • Moving to Adulthood - My Life My Dreams • Buying My Own Support    • My Home • Short Breaks • Personal Care

To help us shape this new model, an event is being held at The Public, West Bromwich, on Tuesday 17 April 2012, from 9am–1pm, followed by a light lunch.

Who should attend?

The event aims to bring together a range of service users of all ages, from children and young people with a learning disability (including special educational needs) and their carers, to adults with learning and physical disabilities.

We are working with Sandwell Council, Changing Our Lives and Sandwell CARES to ensure that people with an interest in developing a new approach are invited to attend the event.
