Ideal for All

European partners visit Independent Living Centre

grundtvig mar12As part of a European Funded Grundtvig Lifelong learning Partnership staff from our partners in Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland and Hungary recently visited us here in Sandwell.

The partnership is called Common Way: Bridging the Gap between Profit and Non-Profit Organisations for Integrated Employment. The partnership aims to increase awareness of the abilities of disabled people through innovative training programmes, designed in co-operation with employers.

We visited several companies that Ideal for All has been in conversation with about the possibility of co-operative working.

One of the companies we visited was the Hadley Group, an internationally renowned manufacturer, who has grown from a small family business started here in Sandwell into a world leader in cold rolled steel manufacturing, annually rolling more than 125,000 tonnes of steel with a turnover of £100 million.

To celebrate the diversity of Sandwell our guests were invited to Sant Nirankari Centre in Wednesbury for a farewell meal and an evening of music and dance provided by children from local schools and directed by Sandwell Music Service.
