octavia hill awardsGood news!..Ideal for All's Growing Opportunities came 2nd last week at a national award ceremony run by the National Trust celebrating the first year of the Octavia Hill awards.  The awards were presented at a lunch held in St Martins in the Fields, on Trafalgar Square , London on Wednesday 23rd May.  Growing Opportunities were selected from a short list of over 300 in the 'Growing Heroes' category, which celebrated 'someone who's set up a community growing scheme, saved allotments and made a real difference'. 

The awards were put up to public vote and over 6000 people voted in all. Octavia Hill, whose centenary is being celebrated this year.  was a campaigner for beautiful environments for all, She was one of the founders of the National Trust, and secured public space in London for use by people for leisure and physical activity, she recognised the essential links between environment and public health. Certainly something that all those who have helped develop Sandwell's community agriculture scheme can relate to.
