Ideal for All to Hold Public Consultation Event on Disability Living Allowance Reform

As you have been aware from news papers and television the country is undergoing change through the new government. The Department of Work and Pensions are consulting with disabled people about changing Disability Living Allowance to a new benefit, titled Personal Independence Payments (PIP).

Over an extended period of time the changes are anticipated to be extended to disabled children and older people affecting far more families, the government has also proposed axing payments of DLA to disabled people living in care homes, cutting their support to get out and about.

Using the most up to date figures from the Department of work and pensions (up to May 2010) over 1.8 million working age people receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA).  The government cuts are likely to mean over 360,000 disabled people loosing DLA across the country.

Ideal for All will be hosting a one day consultation to invite you to air your views on the proposed changes.  This consultation will take place on Monday February 7th 2011 at the Council Chambers, Sandwell Council House Oldbury. We will be holding two sessions 10am till 12pm and 1.00pm till 3.00pm.
