Ideal for All

Welfare Reform Information

WelfareReformWordleThe Welfare Reform Act received Royal Assent in March 2012 and many of the changes to benefits are already taking effect. These reforms have been widely acknowledged to be the most significant since 1947.

The impact on residents, at a time when they are already struggling to make ends meet, will be huge.

On behalf of Ideal for All, Sandwell Council Officers attended a briefing session outlining what people need to know about what the Welfare Reform Act means for Sandwell.

To support the debate, Baljinder Bajwa Sandwell Senior Welfare Rights Officer attended the briefing. Baljinder shared with the audience a presentation about the different changes that have been or are due to take place, such as the Bedroom Tax, Personal Independence Payments, Benefits Cap, Universal Credit etc. There was a question and answer session.

The presentation and information documents are available to download at the bottom of this article.
