Vote for IFA Patron Dave Heeley to carry the Olympic Torch!

Ideal For All patron "Blind Dave” Heeley is an inspirational marathon runner and a father of three from West Bromwich in the West Midlands.

He is also blind – not that his disability ever stands in his way! dave_heeley
We want you to get behind Dave and make sure he carries the Olympic Torch through the West Midlands next year.

An ambassador for both runners and the disabled everywhere and in 2008 Dave became the only blind person to ever complete seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

Accompanied by his faithful sighted guide runner Mac Carr, the pair ran 183 miles in a week, taking in the Falkland Islands, Rio, Los Angeles, Sydney, Dubai and Tunis ending with the Flora London Marathon. They raised £375,000 for Guide Dogs.

The leader of Sandwell Council Cllr Darren Cooper has already nominated Dave to carry the Olympic Torch in the run up to the Olympic Games next year.

Nominations close on June 29, 2011, and we’ll find out if Dave has been shortlisted some time after that date. If he is shortlisted, we’ll tell you how to vote for him.
