S.H.O.E.S 2011

This thought provoking one day conference will explore how local issues impact on world health and how global issues affect us locally. The conference will give you an opportunity to debate and discuss the very issues that concern us all about health, health services and the challenges of climate change. The conference is being held collaboratively with West Midlands Minority Ethnic Health Liaison Committee (WELCOME) who will focus on the big health issues affecting minority ethnic and disadvantaged communities.

The organisers have already confirm a distinguished list of keynote speakers including:

  • Professor George Davey-Smith, Bristol University

  • Professor Elizabeth Dowler, University of Warwick

  • Professor Sir Andy Haines, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

  • Dr David Pencheon, NHS Sustainable Development Unit

  • Dr Angela Raffle, NHS Bristol

  • Dr Alex Scott-Samuel, Liverpool University

The conference will be of interest to health professionals, local authority officers, academics and voluntary / community organisations. It is free to delegates from the West Midlands Region and for those from further afield the registration is £25 which includes lunch. All delegates are encouraged to sign up to two hours volunteering time with Time Bank.
