Support Worker (LW)

Job Title: Support Worker 

Location: Independent Living Centre and travel to other locations as required

Responsible to: Employment and Development Officer  

Duration: Ongoing subject to funding and requirements of employee

Employment type: Self-employed Part Time (15 hours per week)

Please be advised the Officer has a guide dog so it is essential 
to be comfortable around service dogs.

Main Duties 

To provide general visual support to the Employment and Development Officer 

Assist with completing client registration paperwork with direction from the Officer 

Read letters and documents on behalf of clients 

Scribe forms with direction and dictation from the Employment and Development Officer 

Inform the Officer of outstanding paperwork from the office trays 

File information and store securely and accurately 

Support with the maintenance of paper and electronic records

Adhere to confidentiality and GDPR policies and procedures

Use of the photocopier to copy, print and scan as this is touch screen

Proofread (print and screen) documents including job descriptions

Support and guide the Officer around  external venues/travelling to venues/outreach locations/home visits where required

At times the Officer is expected to deliver training so will require the following support:

Provide guidance to arrive at external venues

Orientate/guide the Officer around the room before training begins

Assist with the setting up of any electronic equipment e.g. projector and laptop

Aid presentations by clicking the mouse on to  pages when instructed by the Officer

Provide the Officer with visual information and observations relating to learners

Support learners with reading and writing during learning activities as required

Essential:

Must be comfortable with discussions around complex health needs and disabilities

Must be comfortable around service dog

Maintain full confidentiality of client discussions

Quickly build rapport with the Officer and understand the importance of the Officer’s role in leading the appointments and providing advice on behalf of Ideal for All

Good written and spoken English

Desirable:

Full UK driving licence, access to own vehicle and insured for business purposes

Basic understanding of Microsoft packages and use of internet, sending emails and scanning

Some experience of general office administrative duties

Ability to make a nice cup of coffee, white, 1 sweetener

Identify Cherry Bakewell cakes

Willing to partake of Friday treats
